About Uttrakhand

Uttrakhand State formed on 9th November 2000 located at the Himalaya mountain range. It has two division namely Garhwal and Kumaoun, Its official language is Sanskrit. Dehradun is the capital of Uttrakhand State. Two important rivers namely the Ganga at Gangotri and the Yamuna at Yamunotri originate from Uttrakhand. Uttrakhand earlier known as Uttranchal also referred as "Land of GOD"(Dev Bhoomi). Uttrakhand has got many pilgrimage places for Hindus. Uttrakhand has got 7 District in Garhwal namely Dehradun, Haridwar, Chamoli, Rudrapryag, Tehri Garhwal, Uttrakashi, Pauri Garhwal and 6 Districts in Kumaoun Division namely Almora, Nainital, Pithoragarh, U.S. Nagar, Bageshwar, Champawat. Most of the people of Uttrakhand eat normal food like rice, Dal, Sabji and Roti. But traditional food of Uttrakhand is Jangura(type of rice), Chunu(Ragi), Kandali ka Saag, Urad Dal, Thichwani, Pindalu ki Sabji, Chainsoo, Kafuli, Jholi, Phanu, Baadi etc. Popular sweets are Gulgula, chocolate ki barfi, Bal mithai, Arsa, Rot etc.

Thantoli village is in the district of Pauri Garhwal and about 3 hrs road journey from Rishikesh.
